Fairchild Semiconductor now offers a number of free online design and simulation tools that make it easier to use our products. There are tools for configuring PSR and SSR flyback converters, and a tool that shows how to use a buck topology in an LED lighting system. There are also tools for calculating the power losses of the main switching FET in PFC circuits and in primary- or secondary-side FETs in Phase-Shifted Full Bridge Converter.

You can access the tools from the main page of the Fairchild Semiconductor website (www.fairchildsemi.com). As shown in the screenshot, using the drop-down menus along the top of the page, navigate from Tools & Support to Design Tools.

 When you’ve made your selection, the next screen is the log-in page for “My Fairchild Account.”

If you’re already registered, enter your email address and password on the left-hand side of the page. If you don’t already have an account, you can register using the form on the right-hand side of the page.

Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the start screen for the design tool you selected. In this case, we selected the tool for configuring a Primary-side CV/CC (Flyback) converter.
