APEC 2016 was one of our most robust shows to date. Our show theme, “A History of Innovation,” provided the perfect opportunity to unveil several new best-in-class products. Hundreds of attendees were drawn to our booth to chat with our experts about the products’ performance and capabilities, as well as to see demonstrations of the products in action.
Our new 100V PowerTrench® MOSFET, which we launched at the show, leverages our 25 years of experience as a PowerTrench MOSFET pioneer to achieve industry-leading efficiency and reliability.
Also taking APEC by storm was our new 1200V silicon carbide (SiC) diode. It leads its competitors in both reliability and ruggedness thanks to advanced design techniques and new manufacturing processes, which dramatically reduce defects common in other SiC wafers.
The 60W smart LED lighting reference design that we developed with Atmel also generated a lot of interest. It’s a true “turnkey” design that enables manufacturers to speed the time-to-market of high-end lighting products for commercial and industrial lighting applications. Its advanced wireless dimming capabilities and high efficiency make it ideal for lighting products used in office buildings, malls and other retail spaces, campuses, restaurants and other large spaces.
In addition to these new products, we demonstrated several additional solutions.
We also showed an industrial power demo combining our high-voltage FS4 IGBT and new 1200V SiC diode, which delivers superior performance to its nearest competitor.
Our new 24W USB Type-C wall adapter reference design – a member of our industry-leading line of travel adapters – was popular with attendees, who could also charge their smartphones thanks to the several Fairchild-based charging stations we set up. These charging stations supported various leading protocols, including Fast Charging with QC 2.0/3.0, PumpExpress, FCP and AFC.
Attendees were also shown how they can use our Power Supply WebDesigner™ software to design and optimize a power supply in just minutes.
Fairchild’s nearly 60-year tradition of continuous innovation has not slowed one bit and we lived up to our “History of Innovation” at APEC 2016. You can read more about our innovation and history in two recent blogs.
Our “Founding Father” blog reviews the history of Fairchild, from its founding by the “Traitorous Eight” to the literally hundreds of companies spawned by Fairchild alumni that have revolutionized computing, telecommunications, the Internet and virtually every other technology shaping our world.
Our “Innovation” blog highlights several recent examples of our semiconductors being used in the flagship products of manufacturers from a variety of industries to boost performance, increase energy efficiency or add new capabilities. It also notes that Fairchild developed the first mass producible integrated circuit back in 1959, launching both the semiconductor revolution and Silicon Valley.
